Cooldown shows how much of your Claude usage you have left — session and weekly limits, reset times, and (with Pro) your spending — in your Mac menu bar, on your iPhone home screen, and in the Dynamic Island.

Getting started
On iPhone / iPad
- Open Cooldown. You'll see a short onboarding screen.
- Get your Claude session key:
- On a computer, sign in at claude.ai in your browser.
- Open the browser's developer tools → Application (or Storage) → Cookies →
claude.ai.
- Copy the value of the sessionKey cookie.
- Paste it into Cooldown and tap Connect.
- Add widgets: long-press your home screen → + → search Cooldown → pick a size.
Your session key is stored only in your device's Keychain and is sent only to Anthropic to read your own usage. We never see it.
On Mac
If you use Claude Code, Cooldown signs in automatically — no setup. Otherwise, click the 🔑 button in the menu bar popover and paste your session key (same steps as above).
Frequently asked questions
- Why do I need to paste a session key?
- It's how Cooldown reads your own usage from your Claude account. There's no Cooldown account and no server — the request goes straight from your device to Anthropic.
- The numbers don't exactly match claude.ai. Why?
- Both read the same source; small differences are just timing — usage changes minute to minute, and each view was last refreshed at a slightly different moment. Pull to refresh and they'll line up within a point or two.
- My session key stopped working.
- Session keys expire periodically. Just grab a fresh one (steps above) and paste it again. On Mac, if you use Claude Code, Cooldown keeps working automatically without a key.
- The widget shows old data or "—".
- Widgets refresh on Apple's schedule (about every 5 minutes), and iCloud sync from your Mac can lag. Open the app to force a refresh, and make sure you're signed into the same iCloud account on both devices.
- Does Cooldown collect my data?
- No. Cooldown has no analytics, no tracking, and no backend. Everything stays on your device and in your own iCloud. See our Privacy Policy.
- What's in Cooldown Pro?
- A one-time purchase unlocks: "back to work" alerts the moment a maxed-out limit resets, the Dynamic Island reset countdown, and full cost analytics (daily and all-time spend, by model). Core limit tracking is always free. Restore a previous purchase from the Pro screen.
- Is Cooldown made by Anthropic?
- No. Cooldown is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Anthropic. "Claude" is a trademark of Anthropic, used here only to describe compatibility.
